About Us
Monkton Youth FC was formed in January 2001 and has grown in membership, success and support over the Years. The club changed it's name to Monkton FC in 2014 as our first ever adult team had joined the TSFL and we needed to reflect the change in offering football to all ages. Our aims are details below:-
- To make football fun for all.
- Provide quality-coaching in line with the Football Associations guidance and codes of conduct.
- Help players learn new skills and build self-confidence.
- Provide a safe and happy environment for children to learn and enjoy the game of football.
- Promote fair play and positive attitudes.
- Develop the club, equipment and its facilities.
Monkton FC is a Charter Standard Development Club. This award was gained for providing a safe and professional environment for the children to learn the rules of the game, develop new skills and learn to enjoy the game of football. To help us achieve and maintain these high standards, the Club has a full Constitution, Rules and Codes of Conduct for all members, coaching staff, managers and officials. These can be viewed in the "POLICIES" section of our website, in the Clubs portfolio or by request from the Club Secretary.
Coaching sessions take place on Saturday mornings. These sessions are organised and overseen by FA qualified coaching staff. All coaching and management staff are FA/Criminal Records Bureau “CRB” checked to ensure that they are suitable to work with children.
Our Objective: "To promote and develop Junior football for boys and girls, whilst providing equal opportunities for all."
Club Philosophy
Monkton Football Clubs playing philosophy is designed to be incorporated from the 1st team down to the lowest and youngest age groups to allow players in the development stage to be proficient in the playing style, utilising the principles of attacking and defending play
WHEN IN POSSESSION
Monkton teams will play quick flowing football, playing out from the goalkeeper when possible using a variety of passing ranges
Players off the ball will create space with intelligent movement, Players will be encouraged to play wide and high to create space and to press the ball into the opponents final third
Always looking to break lines to create shots on target
WHEN IN TRANSITION
Monkton teams are expected to recognise the triggers when the ball is about to be lost or won
When to regain shape and where to regain shape
Working as a unit to deny and dictate
Looking to find space and create passing lines
WHEN OUT OF POSSESSION
Monkton teams throughout the club are expected to defend as one
Remaining tight and compact
Denying space for the opposition
Applying pressure when appropriate
Being difficult to beat and to press the ball high as a unit.
Monkton FC Four Corner Model
At Monkton we are proud to stand together with the FA and fully support the England DNA,
we have created our own four corner model which looks like this:-
"A good coach will make his players see what they can be rather than what they are!"

Within our DNA we will work on the following two key areas of Football, In possession and Out of possession and our key philosophy is always confidence on the ball and confidence to engage to win the ball back.
In Possession
The aim is for ALL our players to be confident on the ball in all areas of the pitch and to have the right skills to be able to make decisions on when to be positive and when to keep the ball.
Out of Possession
The aim is for all our players to understand the basics of defending and when to adopt a defensive shape, when to deny and delay the attack and when to win the ball back
